I am working on an annotated display of vintage books (with Rick’s blessings) to have at the rally on April 1st. If anyone has suggestions for what to include, please let me know. I’m planning to showcase several categories of threatened vintage books:
those out of print and useful to kids (and adults) but not yet sufficiently rare and valuable to qualify for the collectible exemption;
books reprinted since 1984 but no longer available in the same beautiful formats they were first released in; books still in print but widely available as perfectly serviceable used copies - losing them is a huge threat to literacy efforts;
books out of print with historical or social science value that are unlikely to be reprinted for lack of artistic/literary merit or because they are not politically correct;
books likely printed after 1985 but copyrighted earlier and lacking print date info;
books aimed at kids clearly old enough not to eat them; and
books in poor condition which are used by artists and others for repurposing.
